Castanet Manifesto: The 5G Broadcast Internet Begins

Today, we are proud to release our founding manifesto — a declaration of what’s broken in today’s digital, broadcast and media ecosystem and a clear vision for what comes next.
Why Now?
The internet that carried us through the last thirty years is hitting its limits. Video traffic continues to explode. AI-generated and AI-augmented media are emerging at breakneck speed. Creators and audiences alike are frustrated by gatekeepers, rising costs, buffering, data caps, and platforms that extract more value than they create.
Unicast (one-to-one) delivery worked remarkably well for a long time, but it fundamentally punishes success. Every new viewer ads incremental cost. On mobile networks delivery costs grow super-linear at peak demand. Virality becomes dangerous. Scale is expensive. This is not sustainable for the next era of media - live streaming, on demand video and AI delivered to mobile devices - especially as experiences become more immersive, interactive, continuous, and personalized.
We believe the internet must evolve to support true direct-to-device (D2D) one-to-all broadcast delivery at scale.
Core Beliefs from the Manifesto
Direct relationships beat intermediaries. Creators should own their audience and monetize directly. Audiences should have frictionless access to the content and creators they love.
Growth should multiply value, not cost. In a broadcast architecture, the marginal cost of reaching millions more people approaches zero. Success is rewarded, not penalized.
AI will transform media. The coming wave of continuous, interactive, personalized-yet-shared, and synthetic-yet-human experiences needs an infrastructure that can deliver once and reach everywhere instantly.
Apps will become worlds. Media won’t just be watched - it will be entered, participated in, and transacted within. This demands a new foundation.
Friction is the enemy of culture. Data caps, buffering, latency, platform lock-in — these are not inevitable. They are design choices we can (and must) move beyond.
Castanet is not another streaming app, CDN, or content platform. It is an architectural shift - building the complementary broadcast layer the modern internet has always needed.
