We published a Manifesto. Now We're Going to Live It.

This is the first in a series of updates from inside Castanet as we build the broadcast internet layer the digital economy is missing.

In June we published something unusual for a company at our stage.

Not a product announcement. Not a fundraising press release. A manifesto.

A statement of what we believe about media, content and creators, about the broken economics of how content reaches people today — and what we think comes next.

The response surprised us. Not because people agreed with it (though many did), but because of what they asked: "So what are you actually building? And when can I follow the journey?"

Fair question. This series is the answer.

Every few weeks, we'll post an honest update on where Castanet is, what we're building, what we've learned, and what comes next. No spin. No hype. Just the real story of building a new layer of internet infrastructure from the ground up.

Here's where we start.

The Belief

We believe the internet has an architectural problem it cannot fix from within.

It was built on a model where every viewer gets their own individual stream. One-to-one. The cost of delivery scales with every connection. Success — real scale, millions of people arriving at once — is treated by the infrastructure as a threat, not a triumph.

Creators are punished for going viral. Sports rights holders pay more as their audience grows. Streaming platforms absorb delivery costs that eat 15–16 cents of every revenue dollar. And at the moments that matter most — a live final, a major premiere, a viral event — the system shows its limits publicly, visibly, and embarrassingly.

We believe this is solvable. Not by patching the existing model, but by adding a layer it was never designed to include: a direct-to-device (D2D), one-to-all broadcast internet overlay.

One signal. Any number of screens. The cost of reaching a million people identical to the cost of reaching one. This is how television worked for seventy years. It's how Castanet 5G Broadcast Internet works now — applied to IP, to mobile devices, to the live, on-demand content and AI that the world is increasingly consuming away from a fixed screen.

The Moment

We're not building in a vacuum.

The regulatory foundation was laid by the FCC “Broadcast Internet” rule-making. The global mobile standard already specifies how next-generation smartphones receive broadcast signals natively. Leading chipset manufacturers such as #Qualcomm have hinted at mass-market availability in early 2028. The content delivery industry is under financial pressure it cannot grow its way out of.

The window between the regulatory moment and the mass-market moment is where infrastructure gets built. We are in that window now.

Castanet is building the 5G Broadcast Internet before the devices arrive. When they do, the network needs to already be there.

What This Series Will Cover

We won't just tell you what we believe. We'll show you what we're doing.

In the posts ahead:

  • Up-dates on our commercial ready pilot networks including lessons learned

  • Insights on how we conceived the Castanet 5G Broadcast Internet from First Principles

  • How we co-innovated with strategic partners to create breakthrough innovation with the world’s first hybrid ATSC 3.0 / 5G Broadcast network compliant with existing rules and regulations

  • Key advantages of our network from a technical and business perspective

  • How we create value through networks, platform and application services across the digital economy

This is a company in motion. The manifesto was the declaration. This series is the proof of work.

The future of media is broadcast. The future of media is direct. The future of media is abundant. And the future is being built now.
